This plant contains large amounts of silica and calcium, magnesium sulphate and potassium chloride and other minerals.
 
Horsetail grows in sandy and wet in most of the peninsula but especially in the north. Aerial stems are used sterile.

For its wealth of Horsetail Silica acts in the formation of collagen and strengthening of tissues, bones and connective tissue.

Its action is due to its remineralizing high mineral content (Si and Ca) assisting in the recalcification in diseases of  bones.
